Download lightburn ramps 1.41/22/2024 ![]() ![]() ![]() I just picked up a K40, and after reading all of the issues with the stock board and all that, figured I’d just jump right in and use a Re-Arm/RAMPS 1.4 setup I had laying around from my 3D printer adventures. Smoothieware is easier to config and install in my opinion. There really isn’t a reason to use Marlin for laser control unless the speed can be improved. I was hoping to see a increase in raster engraving speed. This is limited to about 150mm/sec on a K40 laser. Greyscale raster scanning speed using marlin is no better than smoothieware. This G21 gcode sets the controller to millimeters, which is default anyway. Marlin responds with a echo:Unknown command: “G21” in the terminal window when a laser job is started. The current configuration uses the M106 fan output to control laser PWM power. I used Lightburn Laser software to control the Re-ARM/Marlin. Set the default steps per mm to match K40 laser settings Set the first temp sensor dummy reading so it always reads 210C ![]() Click on link to download my edited version. Some minor changes to the configuration.h. This is my custom compiled firmware if you don’t want to make your own version. I used these instructions on how to compile Marlin using PlatformIO. Testing out the latest 32bit Marlin2.0 using the Panucatt Re-ARM controller. ![]()
